The Downward Spiral...

So, we last ended when Theodore saw that mysterious girl. Of course, he didn't try to approach her because he was not that type of guy, suave and confident, instead he was the other type, the timid and die alone type(Ok, this maybe a slight exaggeration). Anyway, he did what any guy in his situation would do, forget about and find for other 'fishes in the sea'.

At first, Theodore didn't care for these type of things. He was in that prep school for one reason and one reason only, his future. He was either making new friends or kicking ass, taking names. But there was one thing that Theodore would never expect to catch up with him...his past. Theodore was a nice guy (at least he thought he was) but growing up, the way to survive was to be tough, fierce...angry. Theodore had a problem controlling his rage, and one day, while he was with his new classmates, he snapped. His classmates were stunned, scared, unforgiving, because a few days later, Theodore found himself alone, outcasted by the very circle he created. Disappointed, Theodore spent the first academic year, alone. Yes, he was sad but maybe he saw it coming because he knew history will always repeat itself...

Now Theodore, tried to remain positive telling himself that things would change for the better. So even tried joining his school club in order to make new friends. Still even though the people were nice to him, no one was really close enough to be called a friend and when they had like big outings and meetings, he was always left out and he find himself in a corner trying to entertain himself in any way that he could. He got tired, mentally and he seem to have given up hope, it looks like Theodore was destined to travel the path of lonliness. He told himself, ''Well, better me than someone else.''But this was not the end of his bitterness, it turns out, his social life was also affecting his academic performance because every single one of his classmates were reluctant to be in his group, and when they were, they wouldn't keep him updated and in the end he was forced to work alone. Theodore just took one blow after another, but he still refused to go down. It was only a year but to Theodore, it seemed like an eternity of touture...

The Start...

Theodore, a typical teen struggling with growing pains of the inevitable age of adulthood. Ok, maybe not so typical, but Theodore just longed to fit in somewhere. It seems though, that everywhere he goes he ends up the black sheep. However, there was still hope for this young as soon he was about to start...prep school. This was his chance to actually make a new start. He was about to go to a new school, where no one knew him and his history. You see, Theodore had a hard time growing up, so he did what he had to do to survive. Even, if it was not the right thing to do or even if it was just for fun. Theodore had to learn to adapt, so basically he had to be a fast learner, and because of this he was like a modern day "Jack of All Trades", but that was the problem, with so many things he learnt or want to learn he did not really have the time to masterany of the skills that he had. He thought maybe by going to prep school, he could master something and maybe his future might be clearer to him.

It was the first day of orientation, Theodore was excited because he hopes to go in with a smile and make new friends, but Theodore was to about to get more than he bargained for. Theodore was late for the orientation like he would be for everything else in his life, so by the time he got there the whole lecture room was almost filled. He had no place to sit but on the stairs of the room. He looked around but never really saw an opportunity to make new friends, until his new class went out of the room to have an icebreaker session. His class icebreaker session was pretty fast and were one of the first to return to the lecture room. So with so many empty seats, Theodore had no problem finding a seat, and almost instanteously he was making jokes and talking about computer games with his new aquintances. Then it happen, the moment that would change his entire school life. The lecture room door swung open, making a screechy sound like as if it was not oiled in almost a decade. The sound was so irritating, so loud that Theodore just stopped talking, to glance over to see who would step out of the shadows, and there she was, laughing, smiling, giggling away, as she walked in to find herself a seat. Theodore just could not look away. Her smile was just so captivating, cliche but it was just so amazing. "Who was she? What's her name? Where did she come from? Why am I asking myself this questions when I dont even know the answers?" Theodore thought aloud, it must have been aloud because he new aquitances were laughing their heads off, seeing Theodore hooked like a fish on bait. Theodore just conviced himself, "Nah, she's too good for me, besides, I probably won't even have the chance to talk to her." But life is so unpredictable...

to be continued...

Bored...

Ok the post above is a story. Why am I writing it? Well, I'm bored and I have a mental block so maybe by writing stuff down I can maybe get the flow going again. Anyway, it is about a boy, coming of age to be a man, and blah blah blah blah blah. Just read the story already...

Gajah Watch: Street Kings (Out in cinemas)

Well, this movie received a two star rating in the newspapers, so I was actually looking to flame this movie online. However, as usual, I find out that the critics are only as good as their taste. I actually enjoyed this movie and although sometimes the topic may seem to "American", it's not difficult to figure out that the movie revovles around dirty cops. With that said, the storyline is slightly predictive but the action makes the movie enjoyable.

If you like blood then this movie has plenty of it. Blood flying splattering everywhere, sounds of gunfire from the left, right, up, down and even center of the cinema. Other than blood, the screenplay was quite good, with casting of big names like, Keanu Reeves, Hugh Laurie, Forest Whitaker, the guy from prison break, Cedric the entertainer and other familiar faces. Memorable performance by Forest Whitaker, with a no holds barred performance. The emotion in his action was incredible, and because of that, he is still one of the best actors I have seen.

Overall, this movie is just good for the action, no real twist in the story but the movie have very good one liners that I find rather interesting.

Gajah Watch: Definitely, maybe (Out in Cinemas NOW)...

Ryan Reynolds being one of my favourite actors, i had quite a huge expectation from him. This time he plays a soon-to-be divorced dad that receive hard-hitting questions from his ever cute but irritatingly curious daughter played by Abigail Breslin and is forced to tell her the story of how he and her mom met.

Ryan reynolds did not disappoint as he made the role his own blending comedy and drama in this touching tale, but i have to say the performance of co-star was almost on par bringing the onscreen father-daugther chemistry up a notch. The movie being slightly before two hours brings the audience through an emotional rollercoaster which you can expect in a chick flick, but it was interesting to see that each audience was rooting for a different girl to be the one that would end up with our protaganist but the weird thing was everytime the guys buy a ring to propose to the girl, the girl screws everything up. Just like how his daughter put it...its complicated. And that's what it was, it was complicated without comprehend as there were quite a number of twist to his story. However as the story unfolds, some questions are answered yet others still remain a mystery even after you leave the theater.

The casting was quite good as each actress matches the personality of the character they play but in my opinion, I would have never thought of Rachel Weisz to be the slutty type. She looked like the elegant, sophisticated and motherly type, but not the slutty type. Maybe, I'm just recalling her role in 'The Mummy' movies, but out of the three girls, I would have to say, April(Isla Fisher) was my favourite because I think her character really had that something that really enticed me. She had that cuteness but she wasn't all looks. She had independant views on the world around her, smart, knows what going on in the world, her ambition to travel and even likes nirvana. If you ask me, it is no wonder Ryan Reynold's character fell for her(I would've too).

All in all, its just another feel good movie with a happily ever after at the end. A definitely, maybe, good, movie to watch if you need a lift to your day.

A part I like in the movie;

Maya Hayes (Abigail Breslin): What's a threesome?
Will Hayes (Ryan Reynolds): It's a game, that adults play sometimes... When they're bored.
Maya Hayes: ...Whatever.

Another is;

Maya Hayes: Dad, I can't believe you drank... and smoked... and was such a slut... But I still love you.

Gajah Watch Special: The Contender Asia Final @ The Singapore Indoor Stadium

Harlow! This a new section of my blog. It's called Gajah Watch, it will be my point of view on things to watch ranging from tv shows, movies and events. So to why not, to start off this new section with highlights and review from the biggest event this month, The Contender Asia Final.

The Contender Asia is a competition putting hand picked Muay Thai fighters in the ring with each other fighting for a US$150,000. To be honest, I was marveled at the number of girls attending the event. I mean, no offense to the girls, but do they really watch the fight, or do they just are happy to see two guys beating each other senseless. There were people from Japan, Indonesia, Scotland, Australia and even from the Middle East. All gathered to cheer on their favourites and have a great time.

So, without further ado, let's go to the fights....

Bout 1
Sukardi Flash(Indonesia) vs Louis Wong(Singapore)
Exhitbition Match (3 Rounds)

I was rather skeptic that Singapore could have a good muay thai fighter but my heart was behind the flag of my country....

Round 1

Flash came in strong, with a punch combos to the face, and rather swift movement. Suffering blows to the head Wong was slightly disorientated but he stood strong. Coming to the end of the first round, the home crowd cheering on their fighter, Wong manage to deliver a few blows to Flash making a statement saying, "Welcome to Singapore"....

Round 2

Looks like Wong really meant what he said, he went in with punches and kicks to the leg. He was on the offensive managing to avoid blows from Flash. It was becoming an all out brawl when both started swinging their hands, but the round was clearly won by the Singapore prodigy.

Round 3

Indonesia's Flash, feeling threathen tried to come back with honour as he goes for the legs of Wong hoping to sweep the Singaporean to his back, but it was not meant to be as Wong with superb reflexes, catching Flash's kicks and countering with hooks to the face. Wong's efforts would later pay off when he managed to counter Flash's punch to land consecutive hooks to the face, bringing the Indonesian down for almost the third and last time. It was an impressive knockout for the Singaporean and the crowd were on fire as they stand on their feet cheering for their new unsung hero...

Bout 2
This bout was a first for me as it was the first time I was watching an all girl's Muay Thai fight...

Sakon Chantaramani (Thailand) vs Brenda Shee (Singapore)
Exhitbition Fight (3 Rounds)

Going into this fight, the Thai girl was the clear favourite having over 50 fights under her belt, but Brenda Shee was not to be overlook although having only 7 fights, she was the youngest fighter ever to enter the SEA games at the age of 17 and even walked away with a bronze medal.
This should be a interesting fight...

Round 1

Again, I was skeptic and thought Shee would just run with a fist the air and start slamming her gloves on Sakon's head, but for the second time in the row that night, I was proved wrong. Sakon went on the attack first and Shee actually hold her composure and defended well. Then, Shee delivered delivered a round house with malice hoping to catch Sakon off guard but Sakon with the experience she had manage to cover the kick before it could do any real damage, but the technique of her kick was almost flawless and actually won some people hearts over, well ok, she won my heart over (right...like girl i'm looking for has to have a flawless roundhouse...fat hope..) Shee then tried to prove that she was a chick that could be pushed around. She went on the prowl, going for combos to the head then later moving in trying to hit some knees into the gut of Sakon, but Sakon fight back, trying to ave some points.

Round 2

Shee again with new found fire in her heart, went on the offensive, knocking Sakon senseless, spreading the fire to the fans as they screamed their lungs out, chanting "Sing-a-pore!". Sakon tried to claw her way out of the predicament but only to be punished by a kick by Shee which sent Sakon to the ground. This round was no doubt in Shee's corner.

Round 3

Sakon had to dominate this round or even knock Shee out if she wanted to win again, it was not meant to be. Shee stood her ground well, proving that she deserved that bronze medal. Even knocking Sakon a few more times to the ground. No doubt Shee had the match in the back and when it came to announcements, Singapore had won the second match of the night.

Then there was the 8 man Contender ceremony. Besides the two finalists, they were joined by the likes of Sean Wright(Scotland), Soren (Australia), Dzabhar(UAE), Rafik (France), Zach (Singapore) and Zidov (Switzerland and Croatia). I was laughing my ass off when they intro Rafik and the whole stadium was like,"BOO!!!" I was telling myself, "Guess I'm not the only one who don't like him", moving on...

Bout 4
Sean Wright (Scotland) vs Soren (Australia)
WMC Intercontinental Championship fight (5 rounds)

Two crowd favourites battling off to get the Intercontinental belt...

Round 1

Both guys started off slow, Sean throwed his trademark punch-kick combos, but no real damage done. Soren just keep hugging Sean (don't know what he doing).

Round 2

Sean came out round 1 like a new man as he punished Soren early on with loads of punch and kicks combos. And again Soren tried to clucth his way out hoping to reduce the damage being done but Sean just kept going hoping to find an opening, but Soren was calm even managing to score some points just before the bell rings

Round 3
Before the start of 3rd round, the crowd was cheering for Soren but it was Sean that came to fight. Again trying to dominate Soren in the round. Sean's highlight of the round would have to be, catching Soren's kick and countering with a left hook right to jaw, and continuing with his combos. However, it looks like Sean may have made a slight mistake of over exerting himself as later in the round he was more flat-footed, making mistakes allowing Soren to capitalise on the mistakes and get back in the game. Late in the round, the crowd still chanting Soren's name and soon enough Soren fights back with his own set of combos, taking it to Sean. Giving body shots and knees to the gut, inevitably saving scoring some points of his own.

Round 4

Sean coming in this round with even more energy again trying to take the fight into Soren's corner but he just lack the fitness to exert so much energy. The turning point was when the Soren did his trademark "elbow between hands" move. Sean was rocked and was never the same after that. He just could not gather himself in time and Soren just kept going, again going for the body. It was clear this round went to Soren's favour.

Round 5

Sean knew he had to switch back the momentum so when the bell rang for the final round, he went guns blazing. With lefts and rights, hoping to slip past Soren's fomidible defense, to knock him out or just to get a lucky shot. Sean went for Soren's legs but Soren kept clutching reducing the damage to the legs and at the same time managing to hit some knees to the ribcage where most of the damage had been done that night. I think Soren's gameplan proved to have work because Sean could not take anymore blows to the body and Soren went in to take the final round. In the end, it was a close fight that could have gone either way but it was to be Australia's night as Soren would now go back the WMC Intercontinental Champion...

The night's not done but this part of the entry is. I will update with the remaining fights from Zach, Rafik, Zidov and of course the contender final...

My 80s Rewind...

On a not so sunny day, looking out the window thinking about....something(or someone), this song came on the car radio, "The Flame". It was a hit the year I was born, so I don't know much about it but apparently, the song was in the movie "Top Gun"(the movie that made Tom Cruise famous.) When I listened to the lyrics closely, two lines really stood out, the lines that I really wanted to say to.... Anyway here is the lyrics and if you are interested below there is a link to watch the music video(then you know how old the song is...)

"The Flame"

Another night slowly closes in and I feel so lonely
Touching heat freezing on my skin I pretend you still hold me
I'm going crazy, I'm losing sleep
I'm in too far, I'm in way too deep over you
I can't believe you're gone
You were the first, You'll be the last

CHORUS:
Wherever you go, I'll be with you
Whatever you want, I'll give it to you
Whenever you need someone
To lay your heart and head upon
Remember after the fire
After all the rain
I will be the flame
I will be the flame

Watching shadows move across the wall
Feels so fright'ning
I wanna run to you
I wanna call
But I've been hit by lightning
Just can't stand up for falling apart
Can't see through this veil across my heart over you
You'll always be the one
You were the first, You'll be the last

(CHORUS)

I'm going crazy, I'm losing sleep
I'm in way too deep over you
You'll always be the one
You were the first, you'll be the last

(CHORUS)
